California Early White softneck garlic offers a nice mild flavor and is the type you find in most grocery stores. It is great for cooking and very healthy! Another great virtue is that it stores very well. Since the necks of the stems are soft, they can be cut nice and long for braiding. A braid of garlic makes a winning kitchen gift for friends and family! Softnecks (Silverskin) are recognized by the white papery skin and an abundance of cloves, often forming several layers around the central core. Garlic grows from individual cloves broken off from a whole bulb. Each clove will multiply in the ground, forming a new bulb that consists of 5-10 cloves. When leaves turn brown in mid-summer, lift the garlic and hang to dry. Approximately 12 bulbs per pound. Hardiness zones 5-8.

Supplied as bulb.

Product will ship to you directly from our supplier via UPS beginning March 14, 2016. Sorry, we cannot ship to AK, HI, ID, MT, or PR. Please note that our supplier may delay shipments due to weather conditions. Fall shipments start in early September 2016.

The Harris Seeds company began catalog operation in 1879. It evolved from the efforts of Joseph Harris who was extremely successful in the selection of superior strains of vegetables and grains. The company became wildly popular because of his basic business philosophy - "Offer my customers a quality product at a fair price and they will return."
