This hybrid pepper has been a consistent performer in the Northeast. The rich green fruit that ripen red have a uniform deep bell shape with 3-4 lobes and medium-thick walls. Lady Bell is prolific, even in cooler weather and is one of the dependable producers of sweet peppers we know. It is popular for pepper plant sales as well as fresh market use.

Disappointing Lady Bell Peppers

"The peppers have MANY ugly brown spots on at least one side and have to be picked before complete maturity reached. Hoped to use these Lady Bells for stuffing - but many have had to be picked well be fore reaching stuffing size. Can't use chunks for stuffing. Not sure what is causing the spots but a major disappointment after all the work to get them to this point! Other varieties don't seem to be having this brown spot problem."

Easy to grow

"I am a home gardener. I love growing Lady Bell Peppers. In fact, I have to remove blossoms because they produce so well. The peppers cluster so close together that they can be hard to cut off the vine and I risk pulling off a branch when trying to get one pepper out. So I have to be sure to thin the blossoms and tiny peppers to avoid heavy crowding. They grow so well that I am able to leave a lot of them to ripen to red and yet have plenty to use in the green stage."
