Liatris (or Blazing Stars) is an interesting perennial where the purple tipped flower stems shoot up out of a plant base of hairy, needle-shaped foliage. The stems are often long enough for cutting for both home garden and professional use, and are often seen in mixed bouquets. Once established, this hardy perennial blooms mid-summer through early fall.
