There a number of different species in the Scabiosa genus. The common name Pincushion Flower aptly describes the flower form of this popular perennial. Plants will flower beginning in mid-summer and will continue flowering through fall if the spent blooms are removed to initiate the next flowering cycle. The most well known color is mid-blue, but there are also varieties with flowers in the pink color spectrum.
