Wave Series F1
View Quick Facts Chart
The Wave series remains the most sought after spreading petunia series on the market, and with good reason. A consistent trailing habit, vigorous growth, and masses of blooms that cover the plants mark the Waves as proven performers, thus earning some of the varieties' AAS awards. They can be grown and sold in 4" pots and larger, and are excellent for baskets, containers, and have been grown successfully as an annual ground cover.
For germination, cover the seed lightly with coarse vermiculite, however do not exclude light, which enhances germination. Note that Blue, Purple, Pink and Lavender Wave require light for germination. Wave petunias are long day plants. Blue, Purple, Pink, Rose and Lavender require daylengths greater than 13 hours for flower induction. Misty Lilac is slightly less sensitive, requiring daylengths longer than 12 hours. Minimal supplemental light from 10 PM to 2 AM is acceptable to extend daylength during short days. Fertilization: Requires more than other petunias: 200-250 PPM N (Pink, Misty Lilac and Lavender) and 300-400 PPM N (Blue, Purple and Rose) from a balanced fertilizer is recommended at every other irrigation. Responsive to growth regulators; only necessary under some circumstances.
