Descriptions and cultural advice are based on observations gathered from many sources and compiled only for comparison purposes to help our customers make planting decisions. Because growing conditions vary considerably depending upon geographic location, soil type, climatic conditions and cultural practices, customers’ results may differ from our printed information.
Many flower and vegetable species are generally susceptible to several serious seed and soil-borne diseases. Our seed has been carefully grown, treated and /or tested to prevent seed-borne infection. Please note that these best efforts cannot guarantee absolute freedom from disease infestation, nor will they prevent soil-borne or weed-borne organisms from attacking plants during growth. We try to offer superior varieties with resistance/tolerance to many diseases throughout this catalog whenever such varieties are available and adapted to your conditions. We urge you to look for these features in our varietal descriptions as you plan your seed purchases.
Some varieties/lots of seed offered for sale in this catalog have been treated in an appropriate manner to protect them from specific seed or soil-borne disease pathogens, and thus improve their performance for you. This treatment may be hot water, chemical or biological, depending on the pathogen involved. Such treatment is applied under controlled conditions, in a commonly recognized fashion at the manufacturer’s recommended rate when appropriate. Of course, we are limited to those treatments approved by government agencies and there are disease problems for which there are no currently known seed treatments. Some plant species are generally acknowledged as having no disease problems that could be controlled by seed treatment. These are offered in clean, untreated condition.
