Artemisia (Wormwood) spreads to form a carpet of deeply toothed, almost silky leaves. Its flowers are insignificant, but it adds a unique texture to your garden while providing a great backdrop for your brighter blooms. It is good for the border or as a ground cover, and you can prune it back if it loses its natural clumping form. Once established, divisions can be done in the fall or spring. Do not remove the foliage until the spring because the spent leaves act as a winter protectant. This plant tolerates some drought, some salt and will grow in moist soil but prefers a well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Its aromatic foliage deters deer.

To plant bare root perennials, dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is about 1-2” below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly.

Supplied as #1 sized bare root. Tags are included with bare root perennials from DeGroot.
