Heritage raspberries are widely planted, and favored for its fruit size, flavor and firmness. It was the first red raspberry bred to ripen in the fall with a firmness good enough for wholesale markets and with sufficient yields to be commercially viable. Heritage was awarded a 2004 Outstanding Fruit Cultivar Award by the American Society of Horticultural Sciences. It is a strong and productive plant that spreads fast. It is an excellent variety for the home gardener. If you desire a fall only crop, mow canes to ground level in autumn after fruiting. Resistant or tolerant to most major raspberry diseases. Height varies. Red. Continual harvest: moderate summer crop, then a heavy one August to frost. Ever bearing. Hardiness zones 4-10.
