Outstanding flavor! Black Consort is a traditional currant variety great for jams and preserves. The small 3/4" black berries, which are high in vitamin C, have a unique, sweet, musky flavor reminiscent of blackberries. Black Consort currant plants are an upright, multi-stemmed shrub which grows 6' wide and tall, bears fragrant flowers in spring, yields large amounts of fruit, and has brilliant orange red fall foliage. Resistant to white pine blister rust. Self-pollinating. Begins ripening in July. Hardiness zones 4-7.
