The Hardy Kiwi is the fruit of the future! The demand is growing for these small delicious fruits. The plants bear smooth-skinned fruit the size of large grapes in late summer to early fall. The fruit is great for fresh eating, salads, dessert or jelly. The fruit is very high in vitamin C, and is sweet and juicy just like the familiar fuzzy kiwi variety, but now you do not have to peel it! Also, the fruit is smaller than the fuzzy kiwi, so you can pop it in your mouth like a big grape.

Kiwi plants are very pretty when used in the landscape to cover a wall or fence. They will perform best in full to part sun, preferably with wind protection. They may be planted in any well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the roots meet the stem) is about 1-2 below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly. Fertilize when planting. Very vigorous and disease-free. Needs a trellis system for support. Flowers on one year old wood. Supplied as #1 sized bare root

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT BARE ROOT PLANTS
You may be a little startled when you first encounter a ‘bare root’ plant. This is simply a plant that has had the soil washed from its roots to facilitate shipping, and to help prevent the transfer of soil-borne pathogens and pests. Our bare root plants are shipped to you in a dormant state, just prior to your planting season. Unpack your plants and submerge the roots into a bucket of water for 1 hour so the roots will begin to absorb moisture. Be sure to plant them within 48 hours, before the plants break their dormancy.
