Palace Purple is one of the most popular Coral Bells on the market. It is clump-forming, featuring a basal mound of maple- or ivy-like leaves which are deep-purple above and beet-red beneath. Its foliage color may fade to a bronze-green in hot summers. Tiny, pinkish white, bell-shaped flowers in open, airy panicles are borne on slender dark red stems extending well above the mound of leaves, typically to a height of 18-22", in late spring to early summer. The attractive foliage and airy flowers provide color and contrast to the rock garden, perennial border, wood land or shade garden. It makes a good edging plant, or may be massed to form an attractive ground cover. Perennial Plant of the Year 1991!
