These intriguing deep purple-black tomatoes are a gorgeous addition to farmers' market, CSA, and wholesale offerings. The 1-1/2 to 2 oz. round fruit take on remarkably dark black color where exposed to sun, while the undersides of ripe tomatoes show a rich red blush. Smooth, rosy purple interior flesh offers excellent depth of flavor, balancing pleasant acidity with a hint of sweetness. The prolific fruit grow on compact indeterminate vines and resist cracking well. PVP 201100302.

Will grow these again

"Excellent flavor similar to a Cherokee Purple. These were very prolific which is not easy to do in Colorado. The unusual color is very distinctive"

"I bought the seeds this spring. There is a good germination rate. I do not know yet about the fruit taste. I like the fruit color."

Very Pretty

"These are not my favorite, I try many new varieties each year these didn't standout for me. I did a black garden, black jalapenos, black petunias etc. I was really excited considering how unique they are, and they are! They're really pretty, the flavor just wasnt there for me though. While they were fun to grow, and germinated into very healthy plants i wont be doing these again. However, if a black garden or unique varieties are what you seek, they wont disappoint!"

Excellent all-around tomato

"I have grown this variety for several years and they never disappoint. I grow them indoors (in a small Bato Bucket system under lights) from late October through May, and outdoors from May to September. They are prolific, easy to care for and to polinate. For indoor growing, i have tried Pony Express, Valley Girl, Sun Gold, Bellini and Chef's Choice: none of these varieties can compare with the yeild of Indigo Rose. We have never had an insect issue, and this year was the first year that one plant seemed to be showing signs of Late Blight. They may be a bit small, but they have been the best for producing a constant flow of fruit for Salads and Bruschetta through the winter. A tried and true staple in our gardens."
