Concord is the most popular garden variety and has long been the backbone of the eastern grape industry. It is one of the oldest cultivated American grapes still commonly grown. It ripens late and is ideal for jelly, juice, fresh eating and wine. Concord is seeded, with big blue globes "frosted" white and large edible seeds. Skins slip easily from the dark-purple fruit. Almost all purple grape juice on the supermarket shelf is pressed from Concord. Space plants 8-10'apart. Self-pollinating. Late season harvest: mid-September to October. Hardiness zones 5-7.
