Catawba is a popular American red variety that is exceptionally vigorous. It tastes very sweet, which makes it ideal to serve fresh as a table grape, and is commonly used for wines, champagnes, jams/jellies and juice. Catawba grapes are grown by some vineyards for production of blush and rose wines. It produces copper-red berries which hold well after being picked. Space plants 8 to 10' apart. Self-pollinating. Late season harvest: late September to early October. Hardiness zones 5-8.
