This attractive all-purpose fingerling potato has yellow skin with yellow flesh and a distinctive nutty flavor. Potatoes have a firm texture and are about 4-5" long. Banana Fingerling potatoes are perfect for baking, boiling, frying or even in salads due to their firm texture. Approximately 10 seed potatoes per pound. Supplied as certified seed potato.
1 and 3 pound sizes ship early April to mid-May from the Harris Seeds warehouse. 20 and 40 pound sizes drop-ship from our supplier, Dutch Valley Growers, early March to mid-May, based on the optimal planting time for your region. An Early Ship Waiver must be signed if you request an earlier ship date (available on drop-ship items only). Please contact us to inquire.

"Our third year planting fingerlings. They do great! We love the taste. They produced heavily. We found it best to make successive harvests. They are most tender and best tasting when young and only 1"-2" long, but we let some go longer and they simply get bigger and thicker skinned. Still good to eat. They don't keep as long as other regular potatoes. We eat them up pretty quickly. I like to microwave or boil and then add to my salad because the skins are so thin."

- Hi! My Fingerlings (Banana and French) did not come with any instructions. I'm not finding the instructions on the website here as well. I am planning on planting in rows. Can you please let me know how deep these should be planted and how far apart they should be spaced (each type please). Also approximately how long from planting until harvest? Thank you for your help!
- Thanks for reaching out, we'll work to get some content on our website to help with potato planting. Until then, we recommend planting fingerling potatoes (all types) about 4 inches deep and about a foot apart. You rows should be 30 inches apart to allow for hilling as the plants start to grow. You can harvest at the end of the season when the vines begin to die back indicating they are done growing. Fingerling potatoes can take 90 to 125 days to mature depending on variety, but when the vines die, it's a sure sign they are ready.
- Our fingerling potatoes are yielding extremely well. My question concerns harvest. How long should we leave the potatoes in the ground? Do we wait until the plant dies completely or begin harvest soon after flowering? How large should the potatoes be? There are lots of potatoes in each hill but several are not very large. We have the Russian Banna Fingerling potato.
- Hello and thank you for contacting us. Russian banana fingerlings reach approx. 4 inches long at full maturity, however the size often depends on soil fertility. When it comes to harvesting your potatoes you have two options. You can certainly begin to harvest your potatoes whenever you want as "fresh potatoes." However they will not store well as the skin will still be thin. If you wait for the plant to die back entirely this will allow the potatoes to reach full maturity and they will in fact begin to "cure" in the ground (the skin will thicken and allow the potato to store for longer amounts of time). Many people do a mixture of both and harvest a few hills for use as fresh potatoes and allow the rest to fully mature, die back and then pull them from the ground. When you harvest, be careful not to damage the skin. They will store best if you brush the excess soil off the potato and store them in a cool, dark location with plenty of air flow and some humidity (think basement or root cellar with a fan) but do not wash them until you are ready to eat them.
