This German heirloom radish produces 7 to 10" roots that have a dark rose-pink exterior color and bright white interiors. Ostergrub Rosa resists pithiness, has a relatively smooth appearance, a crisp texture and a flavor that is both sweet and mildly peppery. It grows well from spring through fall and its tops remain vigorous and healthy, even under hot summer conditions.

Even Better Than I would Have Hoped For!

"Last spring (2023) I scatter planted these seeds in my cucumber patch here in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, and despite being planted in red clay I had an amazing harvest that lasted about three weeks. These are very good radishes. They are mild but flavorful - not hot. Great with sour cream ranch dip. Last weekend (April 2024) I planted four 9' rows of these radishes and even though the seeds are now a couple of years old, again I have gotten a great germination rate. These are by far my favorite radish and I am anxiously awaiting this year's harvest!"

Ostergrub

"I planted too late and then we went thru a terrible drought. The radishes made fantastic greens in spite of horrible conditions. Although the roots did not get as large as they should have under better conditions, they were very delicious. I have some seed left and will plant more once, the temperature come down. South East Texas: Zone 9"
