One of my favorite varieties of Asters

"I have grown this variety for years and love them. They add so much to the table in terms of color, shape and pizazz. They are great mixed with other flower types but also alone in a vase. I wish I could grow the white and red ones for Christmas but live in the northeast with short day lengths. The thing about asters are they are tolerant of many different growing conditions and bloom for a long time. If we get lots of rain when the buds have opened I cut as many as I can ahead of the rain and can store them for long periods of time, as long as I rinse the water and stems daily. They have almost a woody like stem that doesn't get decayed from being in water quickly like Celosia flowers and others do when in water too long.."
