Roma II is a Romano, an Italian-type bush bean that is slow to develop seed, allowing for an extended harvest window of its high-quality beans. Roma II bush beans develop into bright green, crisp, richly flavored bush beans in about 60 days. Their wide, smooth, flat pods measure 5 1/2 inches and have reduced fiber, which enhances their eating quality. They are straight and stingless, so they do not require staking.

These beans also have a firm texture that makes them excellent for cooking or processing various dishes, including soups and stews. They're also exceptional for freezing and canning because their flavor does not fade with time or preservation.

The bush plants hold the pods up high and allow for an easy harvest of its flavorful beans. Sow your Roma II bean seeds one to 1 1/2 inches apart in rich, well-drained soil with a medium pH balance for a bountiful harvest.

Wrong seed

"The seeds germination was good and also the growth of the plant. Only trouble is they weren’t Roma, at least not what I am familiar to. The purple beans are great though."

Good germination

"Since we moved to our new home in south western Kentucky we’ve had a very difficult time getting the Roma style beans to come up. This year we ordered Harris’ coated Roma II seed and so far the germination is excellent and the plants look great. We’re still a couple weeks out from our first planting for harvest. Can’t wait to taste some fresh beans from our garden! Hopefully we’ll be picking and canning too. Thanks Harris!"

Q&A

What does Treated or Untreated mean?
Hello! Thank you for reaching out. Excellent question! Treated seeds are those that have been coated with a fungicide specific to their genus to help prevent commonly occuring forms of mold, rot, fungal or bacterial growth during the germination process. Untreated seed is just that, seed in it's rawest form. No treated coating. We hope this helps Happy growing!
