A great early pepper, Early Sunsation produces large, smooth fruit that mature from dark green to bright golden-yellow at full maturity. The blocky fruit have thick walls and a sweet taste when allowed to ripen to yellow. Intermediate resistance to BLS adds to the appeal of this early beauty.

They really are early!

"I always plant these ASAP in the season. They do not do so well in the heat. They're easily sunburnt, and the walls are not really thin, but a little thin for a bell pepper. The longer a fruit spends on the vine the more flavor it does develop. The flavor of the yellow is the weakest compared to a red or an orange. But that is not always a bad thing. I like these peppers in scrambled eggs. They have a real mild, nice breakfast flavor. In zone 6B , the question is not what color do you want ripe peppers in June because the only peppers you can grow that will be ripe in June are these kind or early yellows. I have never done it, but I think they might make a good fall, late planting, if you can time it just right. But speaking from experience, this is a very, very good early spring planting variety. It's not always worth starting seeds too early indoors and potting them up. But in Zone 6b at least, you will germinate the seeds after Valentine's Day so they will be right-sized when it's time to plant them outside. I try to start some of these seeds at Christmas in a one gallon pot. And have many blossoms and maybe a few peppers when they go in the ground in May."
