Nero F1 is a traditional shaped shallot set with a copper-pink outer shell and traditional pink shallot colored flesh. Each Nero F1 set will produce a large sized shallot for harvest with excellent storage capability. Nero F1 can be stored for up to 12 months in cold storage. Shallots are often thought to be another variety of onion, but they are actually a species of their own. They have a mild taste that combines the flavor of a sweet onion with a touch of garlic. Day Neutral. Average 100 sets/pound.

Shallot Set - Nero

"I thought the sets looked small when received but they grew well with high success rate and produced large bulbs. If they keep well I will grow again"

Peter W. (4/5)

Rain

"They disappeared in torrents of rain and mud. Not your fault. Sets were perfect."

Ruth B. (4/5)

Shallots

"Unfortunately only about half of the shallots came up. The ones that did were excellent!!"

Mark F. (4/5)

I've only picked a few

"I've only picked a few so far and they were excellent. Looking forward to eating the rest of them."

Bradley B. (5/5)

Wow!

"Been growing Shallots for over 10 years and these are by far the best, biggest, tastiest I've ever grown. Beautiful, 3" bulbs, solid and tight. Thank you for a flavorful winter of cooking ahead!"

JOHN M. (5/5)

Nero shallots

"Highly recommended"

Jeff S. (5/5)

Wow! Great results!

"I’ve never planted shallot sets before but ordered these when I didn’t plant seeds early enough. I planted in raised beds with fertilizer specific for onions. Wow! These tiny sets grew like crazy and produced delicious shallots bigger than my onions this year (I don’t know what was going on with the onions, raised under identical circumstances). They have stored very well. I’m very pleased with my purchase."

Sandy C. (5/5)

Good performance

"Far better than a lot of growers below are suggesting, I think. Have bought these two consecutive years from here and have had nice, fully formed shallots from the set starts."

Max (5/5)

Growing well

"I've had problems growing shallots in the past, but these are going strong after 2 months. They haven't fallen over, are forming bulbs and had excellent germination. I can't wait to taste them."
