Small, Delicious, And Not As Productive As Expected.

"Zone 5b in NJ. The vines took over my garden and spread everywhere. There were plenty of pollinators but the vines primarily put out male flowers so only got 1-2 squash per plant. The fruits were much smaller than expected - The size was mostly that of a softball. Ate my first yesterday. Although it was only picked one week ago it was fantastic. Since it’s a hybrid not all looked like the pictures shown. 10% picked/produced reverted back to the standard butternut squash shape and were only the size/length of my hand. Hopefully they’re as delicious as the “ribbed” one I ate. Will definitely plant again and hopefully have a better crop and more “Ribbed” ones."

Strong winter squash

"Easy to grow and surprisingly productive. Does well against insects and has very good disease resistance. Does very well against the intense heat here in Mississippi! I planted just three seeds I had left from the previous year and still got quite a few! The best variety of winter squash I’ve ever grown! Will definitely be growing them again next year!"

"Nice squash! Good disease resistance. Tastes great and is a perfect size for two people. I just poke them with holes and microwave until soft. I use leftovers for muffins or pie. I will plant them again this summer."

Best squash

"Like most moschata squash, this is resistant or tolerant to most pests. The flavor is great, sweet, dry and not stringy. It keeps for months. And it is the perfect size for convenient use and especially for selling."

Q&A

How long do the Autumn Frost Squash vines get?
Hi Dennis, Squash Autumn Frost is considered a medium vining squash. It is a heavy yielding plant if provided with enough space, proper nutrients and good disease management. Plants should be spaced 3 ft apart in row, with rows spaced 6-9 ft apart. It is safe to assume that the plant will produce vines that are 8-12 ft long.
What is the average size / weight at maturity?
Matt, Autumn Frost squash weighs 2-4 pounds and is 5-7 inches long and 5-6 inches wide.
