The Durangos exhibit excellent pack and pot appeal for retail sales, with characteristics that translate to marvelous outdoor performance for the end consumer. An early-blooming series, Durango features 2 to 2-1/2" anemone type flowers supported by strong stems, on well-branched plants. At final garden height, they make quite a show.

"this is my go to cultivar, durango mix. marigolds are so easy. if you cannot grow this one, well, you should find something else to do. very easy: good potting soil like sungro sunshine #4. some kind of fertilizer high in nitrogen. im using 9-9-9. cover the seed lightly, like fine vermiculite. warmth and sun and regular water and my 200 count flats give me 190 plants all spring long. planting these out in the yard i loosen the soil with a pitchfork, fertilize again with 9-9-9 and these grow to 14 inches from april to october. i removed them at thanksgiving and they were still full of bloom (calif). i have noted that dwarf cultivars deliberately have some of the vigor bred out of the variety (like bonanza, disco, happy, etc), so i like medium to tall cultivars like durango and bolero because the plants are strong and vigorous, with aggressive roots. last summer i grew at least 50 flats of 48 count 806 inserts of durango, and i will again next summer, along with bolero, red cherry, tangerine and moonlight (african). this is the best price on durango that i can find in quantity, beats OP. i would be interested in a 5000 count if it was offered."
