What to Expect From Pumpkin Blaze Seeds

The Pumpkin Blaze variety requires less space than other kinds of pumpkins. Each plant features a “reduced vine” that isn't as long as others.

Pumpkin Blaze fruit attaches securely to the stems while growing and is highly resistant to powdery mildew. The Pumpkin Blaze is a heavy producer when tended appropriately. This production allows you to keep harvesting for weeks!

Blaze is a hit at our roadside pumpkin stand

"Blaze Pumpkins are always a hit at our Roadside Pumpkin Stand. They add a spark of color to any fall decoration and we have found them very good for making pies ,muffins and Pumpkin Bread. Can't go wrong with them. Also the Plant is compact and does not spread like Regular Pumpkin they grow similar to a yellow squash or Zucchini and you can plant a lot in a single row without worry of spread...fairly disease tolerant but spray early and often for fruit boring insects........"

Q&A

Can you explain "reduced vines are vigorous". I've grown Bellatrix and Hooligan pumpkins in my yard and I'm thinking about adding Pumpkin Blaze to my garden this year. I've never see pumpkins described as "reduced vines and vigorous". How are these vines different than traditional pumpkin vines? Any special requirements for growing these types of vines?
Hi John, Thank you for contacting us. Pumpkin Blaze is a great option for many growers. It has a unique appearance and in addition, it doesn't require as much space as many other pumpkin varieties. As you know, many pumpkins have vines that grow more than 20 ft long. While this is a vine pumpkin variety (vs a bush variety), it has "reduced vines," i.e they do not grow quite as long. In addition, while the vines may remain shorter, this variety is a heavy producer and demonstrates strong PM resistance. Pumpkin Blaze should be planted roughly 20-36" apart in row and should be given roughly 8' between rows. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Are they eatable
Thanks for reaching out! This specific variety is bred for its ornamental purposes and while edible, is not bred for flavor. We do offer a wide variety of pumpkins, many of which are intended for consumption: https://www.harrisseeds.com/collections/edible-pumpkins-specialty-squash
