Monique is a semi-long or elongated shaped shallot set. Each shallot set will produce a large sized shallot bulb for harvest. Monique offers superior vigor with excellent disease resistance and storage capability, and can be stored for up to 11 months in cold storage.

Shallots are often thought to be another variety of onion, but they are actually a species of their own. They have a mild taste that combines the flavor of a sweet onion with a touch of garlic. Day Neutral. Average 125 sets/pound.

Ver nice!

"Even though we planted in spring, these grew very well in southern Connecticut with minimal fertilizer and some nice compost! They are a tasty variety as well. We will purchase more for next season."

Growing like crazy after forgotten

"I purchased these shallots in October of 2023. Hung them in a bag on the top railing of my baker’s rack and completely forgot what was in that bag. Found them a couple weeks ago. A friend tried to tell me “they’ve gone unplanted too long, they’re dried out, won’t grow, etc… another friend said “Plant them, you’ll be surprised.” Guess the first friend was wrong. 2/3 of them have sprouted strongly, and it looks like the rest aren’t far behind."

Q&A

What is the estimated # days to maturity? How are they best stored after harvest?
Hello! Thank you for reaching out. Sets planted in the fall will take roughly 36 weeks to reach full maturity. Sets planted in the spring will take roughly 20 weeks to reach full maturity. To store, excess dirt and stalk should be removed and shallots should be laid in a single layer in a dry, dark, cool environment to dry.
