Non-stop and Mocca begonias

"I grew these last year, they were stunning. This year, I had no germination at all. I'm sure it must've been something on my part, but I was disappointed, and since they take so long to grow to size, it was too late to try again. I will be trying them again next season, though. ( BTW- I've never had any luck growing begonias from purchased tubers, I was delighted that these grew so well, last year)"

My spring 2023 order

"There were no backorders, which made me very happy. I have always been very happy with harris seeds germination rate. Today is jan 10th and I have lettuce, petunias and begonias started already."

Challenging, but the most amazing looking begonias

"The darker leaf colors and the bright blooms are just gorgeous on the Mocca Mix. The greenery looks just as interesting as the blooms. They are my favorite begonia I've grown so far. You will not be disappointed as long as the challenge of growing them doesn't frustrate you. Well worth the challenge for an experienced gardener. Had a very low germination rate with these. They are tricky. Highly dependent on maintaining a humid but not wet environment or seeds will rot fast. Seems to prefer a cooler germination temperature so heat mats need temperature regulation for a lower heat. Plants need shade, but they love early morning sun. Very susceptible to overwatering, leads quickly to stem and root rot. Very slow growing. Start in January and you might see blooms in June, but even planted in groups of 3-5 greenery and flowers will be scarce the first year. The plant spends a lot of its time and energy growing the tuber in the first year. Stems on these are not fragile, but will break off easily if mishandled or "attacked" by pets. Can get top heavy, plant close together so they will support each other. I do not recommend starting from seed for the beginner gardener as they are challenging. I've had more success with these in containers than in ground. However once you get it working, they are amazing and well worth the effort."
