Softnecks (Silverskins) are recognized by the white papery skin and an abundance of cloves, often forming several layers around the central core. Softneck garlic offers a nice mild flavor and is the type you find in most grocery stores. It is great for cooking and very healthy! Since the necks of the stems are soft, they are perfect for braiding for long term storage. Softnecks grow well in warmer climates and can be planted in the spring as well as the fall. Hardiness zones 5-8.

- Okay -- I see a lot of negative comments here about your garlic arriving rotten, dried out, etc., and not being worth the money to buy. I know that garlic is a funny thing sometimes, and can go bad seemingly for no reason. But if garlic bulbs are not in open air, the pods will in fact go bad and the only way to prevent that is to get the bulbs into open air so it can "breath." It's the same with onions -- if the onion can't get fresh air, it will start rotting from the inside. So, I have to take some of these comments are caused by the buyers who neglect the bulbs and don't and and quickly plant the cloves. I saw a note which says that transplant shipments cannot be made to WA State. Are garlic bulbs viewed as "transplant shipments?" Thank you .
- Hi Bob, Thanks for the question. You are correct in that garlic will often rot if there is no proper airflow, which can happen when the package isn't opened soon after receiving the garlic. - Hi Charles, Thanks for the question! The count is the number of garlic bulbs. 3 count = 3 bulbs. Elephant Garlic is the exception (count = # of pre-cracked cloves).
