AAS Winner
Perennial
This award winning perennial is a sure bet for perennial sales. Tall stems support 8", full spikes in uniform warm colors of yellow, orange and red shades. The strong stems are particularly conducive for cutting, thus making it an excellent choice for cut flower growers who are looking for diversity. Flamenco flowers first year from seed and is approximately 4 weeks earlier to bloom than the standard Red Hot Pokers. Blooms early to mid-summer. Peak flowering performance begins in its second year.

Color: Yellow, orange and red shades

Good germination rate

"I ordered my seeds over the winter and planted them a few weeks ago. I am very pleased with the number of seeds that have germinated. They are now young seedlings. I didn't take any special precautions. I planted them in a wide, shallow pot and set them in a semi shady part of the yard."

Q&A

My kniphofia flamingo didn’t bloom this first year. Do you think they will next year?
Hi James, We are including a link to a blog post about ornamental plants that aren't flowering. In addition to the info contained in the article it may help to note that Kniphofia is a perennial rhizome that requires full sun and well drained soil. They do not like having their roots disturbed and can suffer from crown rot when planted in wet or poorly drained soil. It may be helpful to make sure a rodent or pest hasn't eaten/severely damaged the rhizome and to provide them with a dose of fertilizer in the spring to help give them a boost of energy. https://www.harrisseeds.com/blogs/from-the-ground-up/why-your-flowers-aren-t-blooming
