vOpera Supreme was bred for its mounded, yet low-growing plant habit that is covered with a profusion of blooms that literally encase the plant, from center to tip. The trailing habit makes it versatile enough for a number of uses such as hanging baskets, window boxes and planters, mixed containers, and 4” production for garden beds. Opera Supreme demonstrates less day-length sensitivity than some other series on the market, causing it to flower earlier in the production cycle.

The BEST trailing petunia seeds!

"This is the second year I grew the opera petunia seeds, and they are the absolutely best petunias! They have hundreds of blooms, don’t get leggy, wonderful color, I don’t have to deadhead and just plain lovely! The blooms are a little bit smaller than other petunias, but well worth the sacrifice. You won’t be disappointed!"

I like the variety Opera

"I like the variety Opera Petunia. The best trailing petunia."

Didn't grow well

"We had a hot dry summer, so maybe that's the problem, but this variety didn't do nearly as well as my other petunias. I'll try it next year with remaining seed and see if it does better. Lovely color!"

BEST petunia for hanging baskets!!

"I’ve spent many years trying to grow the perfect hanging basket. I’ve tried a dozen different varieties of petunias and the Opera Supreme are by far the best for baskets!! Compact, full of flowers and overflowing. These petunias will get leggy and slowly stop producing new buds - however, my favorite thing about these flowers is that after they bloom you can trim them back (I cut them back to about 4-5 inch stems). Within two weeks you have flowers in full bloom again and they are always more compact and fuller after each trimming. I can usually get 4-5 blooms every season. The baskets in my pictures are very large and contain about 15-18 plants."

"Seed germinated well and the plants are now in the finishing stages. A few are blooming and the color of this variety is always special."

Q&A

I have never grown pelleted seed before, What are the rules for successful plants?
Hi Karen, Pelleted seed is a great option for precision planting and can make it easier to handle small seeds. There are a few things to remember when using pelleted seeds to start transplants: A) Moisture Levels Pelleted seeds MUST be kept moist as they germinate. If they are allowed to dry out, the coating on the seeds will harden and can negatively impact germination rates. To avoid this issue: thoroughly moisten the seed starting mix or soil medium you are using to start your plants. Starting with a moist (but not soggy) soil medium will make it easier to maintain moisture levels and allow the coating on the seeds to properly dissolve. If possible, use a plastic dome over your trays to help keep soil moist. Water your trays consistently so they do not dry out completely. B. Pelleted seed does not store as well as non-coated seeds. It is best to use all pelleted seed the growing season in which it is purchased to guarantee germination rates.
