This traditional version of Tithonia produces bright orange-red 2-1/2 -3" flowers borne on 16" stems. It has multiple uses for both garden beds and for cutting. In fact, Torch is often used by cut flower growers because the plants produce stems of a ideal length and girth for cutting. Torch is a quick and easy grower and mixes well with other annuals in mixed bouquets and arrangements. Tithonia thrives in full sun and heat!

Butterfly & hummingbird magnet

"This was the 1st year I’ve grown these and I will now plant these every year. The flowers are beautiful and continuous. This is truly a hummingbird & butterfly magnet. The plants get huge, which was great where I planted them, but might be a problem for some locations."

Q&A

Just received the seeds. I live in NE, Staten Island, NY . Can I plant them directly into the outside beds and or/pots or do I need to start indoors? Today we had 50 degrees. I've had them a number of years ago and I can't remember but I do remember they were beautiful. At the time I didn't realize they are butterfly and hummingbird magnets. Thanks J
Tithonia is most definitely a pollinator magnet. You can direct sow them outdoors or start them inside. Giving them a early start inside helps them bloom faster. I wouldn't plant them outdoors until the danger of frost has passed though.
