Growers report high yields of the attractive Caprice green bean. Caprice has straight, smooth pods that have slow seed development, a fine eating quality and an attractive medium dark green color. Its upright plants set their 5-1/2 to 6" pods mid-high in the plant which lends well to both hand and mechanical harvest. Caprice yields well under virus pressure, has resistance to bacterial brown spot and has good heat tolerance.

Harris is the best. Great

"Harris is the best. Great yield from the beans"

JEANETTE F. (5/5)

Would grow again

"The summer growing season in NJ in 2025 was incredibly difficult compared to most years. I started 4 different varieties of bush and romano-type green bean seeds in early June and all failed to thrive. Therefore, I bought Caprice and Lewis seeds from Harris and they both grew well under stressful weather situations. If I had to choose between the two, I would say Caprice performed slightly better than Lewis, but I would recommend both."

Fabulous seeds with most having very good results

"I purchased over 20 different types of seeds from Harris as a first time customer. I had about an 85% result, which in my book is wonderful! A few types were not successful, but most were highly productive."

Nice straight Branford dilly beans

"Nice straight Branford dilly beans"

only one harvest?

"added inoculant, so got excellent first crop, but hoped for second yield, or further bean production. Am used to blue lake, and older varieties where I had staggered harvest. But the inoculant was the winner. Planted these adjacent to non-inoculanted test Caprice, where not as vibrant plants!"

Very good beans

"These are my go to beans. Great flavor and my best seller."

Hardy Bean

"This wonderful bean saved my harvest. I planted a bean I had been planting for 3 years, it failed. I replanted with these wonderful beans and they thrived for us. It was a challenging growing season (2022) and this seed got us to harvest successfully. I will be planting this again this year."

Q&A

Is this a bush plant? Is it stringless?
Hi Louise, Bean Caprice is a bush variety bean with pods that measure roughly 5.5-6 inches and is considered a stringless bean. Caprice is a wonderful variety that has good heat tolerance and is slow to develop seeds.
