Growing TipsBefore planting your Yellow Doll Watermelon seeds, ensure you have light, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5 and a southern exposure. If you are starting the seeds indoors, start them no sooner than two to three weeks before the last frost. To start the seeds outdoors, plant them after the last frost when soil temperatures reach above 70 degrees Fahrenheit. While the Yellow Doll Watermelon seeds are germinating, give them at least 2 inches of water every week.
As the plants mature, they will require less water. To ensure your watermelons are at maximum sweetness, do not overwater them one week before harvest. To preserve the unique sweetness of your Yellow Doll Watermelons after harvesting, keep them at 40 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit for two to three weeks.
