Although Primula (or Primrose) is mainly perennial in nature, a number of cultivated varieties have been bred for pot crop production, where the plants can be sold and used for indoors. The brightly colored, flat shaped flowers of P. acaulis make a beautiful accent for indoor decorating. The large, brightly colored flowers set over nicely textured green foliage contribute to the overwhelming success of Primula as a pot crop. It is most often sold as an early spring crop, and in some parts of the country has year-round sales potential.
