The name says it all, this variety is a gem! The iridescent, shiny, glass-like kernels will glisten in the fall sunshine. Your customers won’t believe it’s an ornamental corn, and not a Chihuly creation. Its beautiful, unique appearance is generating plenty of social media buzz. The multi-colored kernels can be popped or ground into flour. Sturdy plants grow 6 - 8’ tall and produce an abundance of 7 - 8” long ears. Extremely productive.

These organic popcorn seeds can be used to make cornmeal, delectable popcorn or as decoration. Popcorn plant seeds prefer plenty of sunlight and well-drained soils for proper growth. Plant the seeds in the summer months when the soil warms and the potential for frost has passed. The corn should be grown in blocks instead of rows to facilitate better wind pollination for a larger yield.

With a high germination rate that takes six to 12 days, you can expect an abundant harvest.  You will know that the corn is ready for harvest when the outer husks start to dry and turn brown.

Ornamental Corn Glass Gem Organic Seed

"I am very happy with this corn so far! Every seed sprouted, the corn is HUGE (about 8 feet tall) right now and has baby ears all over it! It's too early to harvest yet, but this is going to be a fantastic crop!!"

Colorful and decorative. Stalks tend

"Colorful and decorative. Stalks tend to get large and fall over in storms. Squirrels play in it, and break it down. An interesting variety. I do not grow corn every year. This is a productive area for corn and similar crops. I garden in Southern Maryland, but not in the best sun or conditions."

Glass gem ornamental corn seed

"I have planted these seeds two years in a row now and I am very happy with them. All germinated and grew to 8 or 9 feet tall and each stalk sported 2 to 3 ears of beautiful colorful corn that does very well at farmers markets"

Ed M. (5/5)

Wonderful!

"I planted 500 seeds and 90% of it sprouted! I'm in the midwest and planted May 1st due to warm spring and just finished harvesting the rest of them a week ago. All I can say is WOW! Each stalk had 2 ears, many even had three! Gorgeous colored ears, and it makes delicious popcorn. Will definitely be buying and planting more!!!"

"Seed sprouted quickly, hoping for a good crop this fall"

Hopeful

"Kind of tough to write much of a review, when all you have done is purchase the seed...but; I have dealt with Harris in the past and was always, literally always, satisfied! I love the fact that you treat your seed, as they're not many outfits doing that. That takes possible extra expense and definite stress right out of the equation! I have never had a "miss" with Harris...can't imagine starting now."
