Great flavor

"Planted 3, along chainlink. Ended in hospital after fall breaks in hip. Even though I wasn't here as was sent to home for rehab, 1 continued to grow. Not great but it survived and ended up with 2 very tasty squash for a delicious sauce I canned. Will grow more but will not go back to hospital 😕"

Squash Butterkin F1 Seed

"Suburban dweller with limited space; every seed germinated quickly (mid April planting). Kept 3 seedlings and passed the rest on to a sibling with much more garden space. Each of my 3 are thriving in their own 20 gal garden containers growing in organic potting mix with worm castings and a slow release fertilizer. They look great and are creeping right along; buds now visible."

Hardy vines and attractive fruit

"We've had unusually warm and humid weather this summer, and this squash appears to LOVE these conditions. The vines are thick and lush, and they don't give off that melon/cucumber smell if they are touched; this has kept the squash borers away. The massive ruffled golden flowers are held high above the leaves, which makes it easy for pollenators to find them. Mine are setting fruit now (July), and the ones that are close to ripe are the size of small pumpkins. I hope to start harvesting and selling at market in the next few weeks. They are heavy feeders - I rototilled in some good compost before planting, and feed with a liquid fertilizer weekly. The only issue I've seen is a slight dusting of mildew on the leaves, owing to the high humidity. This hasn't hurt production, though."
