Triploid Marigolds are a cross between African types (T. erecta) and French types (T. patula). Their triploid genetics presents certain advantages over French or African types. Because they set no seed as they mature, the plants continue to produce flowers well beyond when most other marigolds have phased out of bloom. They have a wider range of climatic adaptability, perform better under heat stress, and tolerate rainy conditions better. They are more daylength neutral than African types.
