Perennial
An abundance of magenta-purple blooms covers tall plants of this well-known perennial Verbena species. The Verbena Bonariensis Verbena seedlings bloom into tall, vibrant magenta and lavender perennials commonly referred to as "purple-top vervain."

Farmers and gardeners alike enjoy growing Verbena Bonariensis perennials from seed. These flowers need ample sunshine, steady moisture and partial shade for up to 14 weeks to bloom in full. They can grow up to 4 feet tall and bloom from mid-summer until the first fall frost.

A great filler for the perennial border, these plants flower when grown in 6-inch pots or higher for approximately 9-10 weeks under long days. Magenta and lavender perennials also add a pop of color and sweet fragrance to garden bedding, landscaping and cut flower floral arrangements, including summer vase displays. The stiff stems and attractive blue flowers make it a popular selection for cut flower growers to use as filler in mixed bouquets.

Reviews

intrigued and pleased

"They sprouted nicely and then grew slowly, and steadily. Quite happy now in full sun on a hot patio. Looking forward to flowers."

Eve W. (5/5)

Better than generic

"I’ve grown V. bonariensis from seed for many years. ‘Finesse’ is a distinct improvement in vigour and flowering. The inflorescences are larger & the flowers brighter than the standard variety. However, it’s also taller, so it requires careful placement in beds and borders."

George E. (5/5)

Excellent filler plant for borders

"Excellent filler plant for borders and attracts butterflies and hummers. Nice in bouquets, too."

Spruce F. (5/5)

Easy perennial

"Once you plant it it never gets invasive just shows up in different places in the garden."

BETSY S. (5/5)

Q&A

will you carry verbena imagination again?
Hello! Thank you for reaching out. It is hard to say what we will carry in future seasons as grower needs and industry selections are always changing. But as of right now, we are not planning a comeback of that particular variety.
