Eye-catching variegated foliage and fruit that ripen from green striped to solid red make this pepper very unique. Candy Cane Red’s medium sized plants produce high yields of cone shaped fruits that are 1¾”W x 3¾”L at the crown. The sweet flavor, thin walls, and crisp texture make this pepper perfect for fresh eating at any stage of ripeness.

These sweet snacking pepper seeds can be planted in containers or directly into the ground and grow well with or without support. When planting snack pepper seeds indoors, you must wait until the seedlings mature before transplanting them into an outdoor growing area. The soil must be warm for direct sowing, so it's preferable to wait a week after the last frost.

Sweet snacking pepper seeds perform best with well-drained soil and full sun exposure. You can expect high germination rates within 10 to 20 days after sowing. The plant blooms between early and late summer. The peppers will be ready for harvest at full maturity when they are red and sweet, but you can also pick them while they're still green for a crisper texture.

Not the Sweetest

"This pepper was medium walled and somewhat sweet, but it wasn't as sweet as described. My sweetest variety was one I am trying to stabilize, and the second sweetest was the Yellow Lunchbox, the third sweetest was the Red Knight bell pepper. Additionally, this plant grew well, but it was not the most vigorous, which is common for variegated varieties. I do not intend to grow these again, despite having over 75 seeds remaining."
