Get a head start with your onions by planting sets. Karmen is a late-season long day open pollinated variety. Sets will yield 2-3 inch bulbs with brilliant red skin color. Great for cooking and easy to grow, onions are one of the most popular vegetables in the home garden. They grow well in many climates, but perform best in well-drained, slightly acidic, fertile soil in full sun. Dry bulbs will be ready for harvest when tops have dried and fallen over naturally, usually in August or September. Lift onions gently with a fork and store in cool, dry conditions.
