Pumpkin Long Island Cheese Seed

Long Island Cheese or "Cheese Pumpkin" is an old heirloom pumpkin variety similar to butternut squash. It has smooth, tan skin with medium ribs and a flattened shape that resembles a wheel of cheese. The deep orange flesh is moderately sweet and great for pies while being chock full of beta-carotene, Vitamins A and C, potassium and antioxidants. The flesh is also smooth and stringless with a rich, memorable flavor, making them exceptional pumpkins for pumpkin pie, soup or any recipe that calls for butternut squash.

These pumpkins also have a shorter growth period than some other pumpkin varieties. Farmers and gardeners can grow Long Island Pumpkins from seed to mature pumpkin in less than 108 days in the right environment.

A mature Long Island Cheese weighs about 6 to 10 pounds. These pumpkins also have harder skin and longer storage lives than other pumpkin varieties, making them good for long-term storage in a cool, dry environment.
