- Good morning Lia, thank you for contacting us. Zinnia Preciosa Mix F1 is a standout variety with many of our gardeners. This compact variety of zinnias often produces double blooms. These seeds need to be covered (i.e. dark required) in order to germinate. These seeds can be started in small paper cups or seeds starting trays prior to transplanting outside to your garden or into a larger pot or container. Make sure whatever you start your seeds in has some sort of drainage hole in the bottom so excess water can drain out. Pre wet your seed starting mix or soil prior to sowing seeds. Press seeds into the surface of the pre-moistened soil and then lightly cover the seeds with soil. Be sure to gently mist your seeds every day until they germinate. Seeds will typically germinate within 5-10 days. Plant starts can be transplanted roughly 3-4 weeks after starting or once the danger of frost has passed.
